McGill’s Buses will change to an emergency timetable and will stop accepting cash from Monday.
Bosses have said the move will protect the jobs of over 1,000 employees.
No change will be carried by drivers as of Monday 23rd March. The firm will accept contaless payments as well as e-tickets though the McGill’s mobile phone app.
McGill’s, said: “This decision has been made for hygiene reasons and to stay in line with the recommended social distancing guidance.”
They added: “We understand that over the coming weeks it is important that our communities have access to the vital public service our company provides, therefore, from Monday 23rd March, we will be operating emergency timetables.
“Almost all services will continue to operate, most at half of their normal frequency. Precautions have been taken to ensure all journeys are still possible at this time.”
