Scottish Liberal Democrat campaigner, Jack Clark, is calling for better clarity over the reasoning behind trees being felled, and for those cut down to be replaced as quickly as possible.
Locally there has been outcry over the felling of 7 trees on Glasgow Road in Paisley on Friday.
Jack said: “Residents have spoken to me expressing dismay about this felling, when the trees looked alive and healthy.
“People are rightly angry over this tree felling and the lack of clarity over why it happened. Beyond an article in the Gazette and a poster pinned to the trees, there seems to have been no real notice of why these trees were being felled.
“This is a time when we should be protecting and promoting trees for the good of our environment. Renfrewshire Council should give proper public notice over their reasoning for tree felling, and only use it when absolutely necessary. I have written to the Council to express this, and look forward to them taking action on the issue.
“I hope that these trees are replaced as quickly as possible, to protect and promote a good quality environment along one of Paisley’s busiest roads.”
