Police Scotland have launched an investigation after a car was deliberately set alight in a Johnstone street on Sunday evening.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched one appliance to Heron Place in the Spateston area of Johnstone and left at around 11.05pm after ensuring the area was safe.
Police Scotland also attended the incident and confirmed that the car had been deliberately set alight and they will be treating the fire as wilful fire raising.
Nobody was injured; however, the car has been extensively damaged.
Renfrewshire News can reveal that the owner of the car had only purchased the vehicle the day before.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.45pm on Sunday, 27th August 2023 police were called to a report that a car had been deliberately set alight outside a house on Heron Place, Johnstone.
“There were no reports of anyone being injured, however, the car has been extensively damaged.”
“Officers are treating the fire as wilful and enquiries are continuing.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.28pm on Sunday, 27th August to reports of a car on fire at Heron Place, Johnstone.
“Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance to the scene, where firefighters extinguished the vehicle on fire.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left at 11.05pm after ensuring the area was safe.”
