Councillor Jennifer Adam has been appointed as the Chair of Renfrewshire’s Integration Joint Board (IJB). She will take over as Chair for the next meeting, which is scheduled for Friday, 29 September.
Renfrewshire’s Integrated Joint Board has responsibility for planning most of the integrated health and social care services for adults in the area.
Under the terms of the Integration Scheme, the role of Chair should rotate between NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) and Renfrewshire Council every two years.
John Matthews OBE, who has been the NHSGGC-based Chair since 2021 is stepping down as Chair, but has been appointed to remain as Vice Chair until the end of June 2024 when his term as a non-executive director with NHSGGC is due to end.
Speaking ahead of her first meeting as new IJB Chair, Cllr Adam said: “Our focus is on managing the financial challenges the IJB faces, as was highlighted at our meeting in March. Across the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) work is underway which aims to address these challenges where possible – and our Sustainable Futures programme seeks to engage relevant groups and partners as we work through this. This focus will remain a priority for us over the coming years.
“I would like to recognise and highlight the work of all HSCP staff who have demonstrated amazing dedication and who continue to deliver a high standard of services for the people of Renfrewshire where they are needed most.”
Jennifer Adam is an SNP councillor for the Paisley Northeast and Ralston area of Renfrewshire.
