Tom Arthur, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire South, has today welcomed news from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) that Shuttle Buses Limited will be running a replacement service, linking Lochwinnoch, Howwood and Johnstone, with effect from this Monday 13th November.
The North Ayrshire-based transport provider have stepped in following this week’s last minute announcement that Key Coaches would not be servicing the route from Saturday 11th onwards.
Tom made urgent contact with SPT stressing how important it was that action be taken to provide his constituents in the west Renfrewshire villages with a service as soon as possible. The final details are yet to be confirmed, but this news offers a welcome reprieve for residents of Lochwinnoch and Howwood who used the Key Coaches service.
Tom said: “As soon as I heard that Key Coaches were pulling the vital number 4 service from the villages, I contacted SPT.
“It was great to hear today that a new provider will take on the service from Monday. I am still awaiting full details, but this is a good starting point and providing a lifeline service to Lochwinnoch and Howwood.”
