The Christmas single released by The Clan ice hockey team has become a hit with fans.
People who have heard the track, Clantastic Christmas have been singing its praises on social media and the song made the iTunes charts at number 65 the day after it was released.
It’s the first time a British ice hockey club has released its own original charity Christmas single specially written for them.
The song, along with a B-side second track called The Club Mix – which has Christmas messages from the players to the Clan’s Purple Army fans – is now available to purchase on all the usual download and streaming platforms.
Money raised from the sale of the two tracks is being donated to The Renfrewshire Toybank, which provides thousands of Christmas gifts every year to disadvantaged children and young people up to the age 18.
A Tweet from Lesley Henderson on X said: “Good on the team. A great cause and our wee one is likely to be singing it all year.”
Also on X, Jay commented on the Clantastic Christmas song: “I woke with this in my head this morning. Now the chorus is a wee earwig going round and round. Not complaining though – loving it.”

A Mrs Murray also commented on X: “Quite catchy to be fair. Well played, Clan.”
And David Gallienne added: “Loving it! A brilliant idea for a Clantastic cause.”
Even rival Nottingham Panthers ice hockey fan Helen Radford said: “Well done from a Panthers fan. I love it. I’m gonna make all my family listen to it!”

Also on Facebook William Mayvrs added: “Great cause and I am now going to make it my ringtone.”
On Instagram, Nicholla25 said: “Love it and hopefully everybody downloads.”

The Clantastic Christmas song has also gone down well with volunteers at The Renfrewshire Toybank who have been playing it in their storage unit while they sort out the toys and gifts collected this festive season.
Lauren Roy-Sutherland, from the Toy Bank said: “I’ve got the song stuck in my head now. You don’t deed to be an ice hockey fan to enjoy the Clantastic Christmas song. I hope everybody downloads or streams it.”
Glasgow Clan managing director, Gareth Chalmers said: “The song Clantastic Christmas is going down really well with our fans and we’d like to thank everyone who has downloaded or streamed the track.
“And the players, who sang the chorus, are revelling in their new-found fame as rock stars!”
