Police Scotland is appealing for information after a 25-year-old man was assaulted in Paisley on Monday evening.

A man and a woman were walking along Gilmour Street near the Cenotaph at around 7pm when they became involved in an altercation with two men and a woman.

The disturbance resulted in the man being assaulted in a lane next to Gilmour Street.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment to a serious facial injury.

The suspect is described as being a white man with dark hair and dark facial hair. He was wearing a blue and red jacket, a black Guns & Roses T-shirt, dark trousers and white hi-top Nike Dunk trainers. He was also carrying a Lidl carrier bag.

Detective Constable Kate Wason, from Paisley CID, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to trace the person responsible for this serious assault and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have information that could assist our investigation.

“We are appealing to members of the public who either witnessed what happened, or who saw a man in the area matching the above description, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3139 of 17 June 2023 or make an anonymous call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
