XSite Braehead hosted a chess tournament for The International Chess Federation (FIDE), marking its 100th Anniversary.
The FIDE 100 Chess Scotland Allegro Event, on Saturday, was a resounding success, contributing to FIDE’s ambitious attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the highest number of chess games played within 24 hours, with a target of one million games.
Encouraging participation from the public, the event featured a mix of Rapidplay and Blitz tournaments, providing contestants with fast-paced chess matches.
Simultaneously, an exhibition where International Master’s Andrew Muir, Stephen Mannion and Angus Dunningham, played against multiple challengers, showcasing their exceptional skills and strategy.
Stephen Mannion and Angus Dunningham came in at joint first place in the tournament, winning the £100 prize.
