A father and son are behind bars after police seized £300,000 of cocaine and dirty money as well as a gun.
James Murray, 58, and Connor Murray, 29, were snared after officers swooped on a Volkswagen Tiguan outside the latter’s home in Bishopton, Renfrewshire on 21st March this year.
Prosecutor Lindsey Dalziel told the High Court in Glasgow how a woman had initially been spotted at the vehicle looking “nervous” before putting a holdall inside.
James Murray, of Kilwinning, Ayrshire, was soon seen going into the car, which was insured to him.
Miss Dalziel said police found him lying across the rear seat – which had been lowered – with his head in the boot area.
She added: “The search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of cocaine, significant quantities of cash and a black handgun.”
Fingerprints and DNA went on to link Connor Murray to the illegal items found including on elastic bands wrapped around the money.
A total of 1.8kg of cocaine was seized with a potential value of £149,000. Police discovered £140,000 of cash.
Describing the firearm, Miss Dalziel said: “It was found to be a modified gas alarm pistol most likely designed to discharge blank cartridges such as flares.”
The father and son appeared beside each other in the dock today.
Both pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Connor Murray also admitted to possessing a prohibited weapon and the money.
All the charges were said to be aggravated by a connection to serious organised crime.
Lady Hood remanded both in custody as sentencing was deferred for reports until next month.
