Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful vehicle fire in Kilbarchan.

A car was deliberately set on fire in the Millikenpark Road area at around 5am on Wednesday

Emergency services attended, the fire was extinguished and there were no reports of injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers are appealing for information.

Officers are particularly keen to trace a man seen in the area around the time. He is described as being in his 50s and was wearing a dark jacket, trousers, a beanie hat and Adidas trainers.

Detective Constable Fraser Williams said: “I’m appealing to anyone with information about this incident to come forward.

“If you recognise the description of this man or think you may have seen him in the area around the time, please get in touch with police.

“I’d also ask anyone with private CCTV, doorbell cameras or dashcams to please review your footage and bring anything you think may be of significance to our attention.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 0443 of 28 August. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
