Police Scotland have made a fresh appeal to for information after a teenager was found seriously injured in Barrhead having been struck by a car.

A driver failed to stop after striking a 15-year-old boy on an electric bike. The boy remains in a serious condition in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The incident happened at around 10.55pm on Wednesday, 1st January, 2025 where a teenager was found injured on Aurs Drive, Barrhead. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out and it has been established that he was struck by a car which failed to stop.

The car is believed to be a silver Vauxhall Astra and enquiries are ongoing to trace it.

Sergeant Ally Wright said: “We have now confirmed that a car was involved in this incident and our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have seen the incident, the car or have information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage or private CCTV to contact us.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 4085 of 1 January, 2025.”
