A brand new playpark is to be built in the East Fulton area of Linwood later this year.
A site close to East Fulton Primary School has been identified as the perfect spot for the new park and play equipment.
In the coming weeks, a consultation will take place where members of the public and local community groups will be invited to share their views which will then be used to finalise the specifications for the new play area.
The play park will be built as part of Renfrewshire Council’s investment and renewal of local play areas.
Local councillors Robert Innes and Audrey Doig have welcomed this move and urged the local community to get involved in what they want to see installed in the new park.
Robert Innes, SNP cllr for Houston, Crosslee and Linwood, said: “This is fantastic news and a long time coming. We have seen play areas being created and upgraded all over Renfrewshire and it is nice to see but Linwood has been missing out. I have been urging this move for this new facility in Linwood and I am glad to see it finally happening. An entire new play park for Linwood is truly welcome and exciting.”
“I am sure families with young children in Linwood will be happy about this investment. Some of the play parks that have been developed around Renfrewshire are tremendous so here’s hoping this new one in East Fulton is just as superb. The consultation process is about to begin and I urge as many people in Linwood to take part as possible.”
Councillor Audrey Doig, also an SNP cllr for Houston, Crosslee and Linwood, added: “The SNP in Renfrewshire council have done a smashing job doing up all the play parks and I have no doubt this will be another excellent facility for young families in Linwood to enjoy for years to come.”
“The site in East Fulton is a perfect location for the new play area. It is situated near the school and the nursery. The consultation will help to shape how this play park is developed in Linwood and everyone in the area should engage with it.”
