Councillor James MacLaren is demanding “urgent action” is finally taken to tackle drainage and flooding issues on the A761 approaching Bridge of Weir.

The Scottish Conservative councillor who represents Bridge of Weir, Bishopton and Langbank says he has reported issues on the stretch of road for years, but no permanent solution has been delivered.

He says with winter fast approaching, a failure from Scottish Water to fix these problems has the potential to cause “carnage” on the road for motorists.

Councillor MacLaren says that the council’s roads department have identified the issue is with a burst pipe and that Scottish Water have been notified, but they have failed to lay out a timescale for the works to be carried out.

Scottish Conservative and Unionist councillor James MacLaren said: “This stretch of road has repeatedly suffered with flooding and drainage issues.

“I have reported issues to the council for years but still no solution has been delivered.

“That is simply not good enough given that Scottish Water have been notified of these problems.

“With winter rapidly approaching, this part of the A761 can be a real blackspot when it floods. There could be real carnage facing motorists if Scottish Water don’t come and fix these issues as a matter of urgency.”

Cllr MacLaren added: “I will be continuing to push them to do so for the sake of motorist safety and to get these flooding issues sorted once and for all.”
