A 46-year-old man has been jailed for sexual offences against children and for taking, making and distributing indecent images of children.

Steven Pepper was sentenced to 32 months at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday having been previously been convicted at the same court on Friday, 14th February, 2025.

He was arrested following an enquiry by North Yorkshire Police, working in partnership with Police Scotland.

Detective Inspector Michelle Burns of the National Child Abuse Investigation Unit said: “Pepper’s crimes were appalling, and he showed complete disregard for his victims and the children depicted in the images he possessed and shared.

“He believed he could evade justice, but this case demonstrates our commitment to identifying offenders and bringing them to justice.

“This outcome is the result of close partnership working, which remains crucial in tackling child abuse and ensuring those responsible are held to account.”

DC Burns added: “Protecting children from harm remains a priority for Police Scotland, and we encourage anyone with concerns to contact us. Every report is taken seriously and we will act to safeguard those at risk.

“Anyone with information or concerns about a child at risk of abuse is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
