Tom Arthur, MSP for Renfrewshire South, recently visited Rays of Hope Cancer Support Group in Elderslie to meet with group founder Linda O’Malley.
The group provide support, health and wellbeing classes and social activities for those with a cancer diagnosis in Renfrewshire. Tom had written to the organisation a few months ago to offer his congratulations, following their successful application to the National Lottery Community Fund. Rays of Hope were awarded £100,000 by the fund, to continue operating their diverse range of activities and support to service users.
The group’s annual ‘Ladies Lunch’ fundraising event is coming up on Sunday 22nd October at Ingliston Country Club, with all revenue raised on the day providing vital funds for this not-for-profit organisation. Tickets are still available and can be purchased from Rays of Hope directly.
Tom said: “The Rays of Hope team really are an inspiration to us all and provide an invaluable service to the people of Renfrewshire. From drop in sessions to walking groups, community choir practices and even jewellery making classes, there is something available for everyone, no matter their age or physical ability.
“I am delighted to show my support for this fantastic service and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Linda and the team for the amazing work that they do in Renfrewshire South.”
