Join us for a joy-filled community event with musician turned author Katy Lironi, whose big-hearted memoir Matilda in the Middle celebrates a whole family’s love for music. Having been enmeshed in the Scottish music scene from childhood, Katy and her husband Douglas later redirected their love for the post-punk era towards supporting their burgeoning family. At the centre of this family saga is the indomitable spirit of middle child, Matilda, whose Down Syndrome is, in equal parts, challenging and an amazing gift.

In this event, we’ll enjoy a special performance from Choir 21, Down Syndrome Scotland’s Makaton choir for teens and adults to enjoy music together. There will be a chance to learn a few Makaton signs, before Katy chats about her family’s journey and what she’s learnt along the way with Alistair Braidwood.
