Thorn Athletic have secured promotion to the West of Scotland Football League Second Division following a stunning 4-0 away victory over Wishaw this afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nathan McLelland was the hero of the day, scoring all four goals for The Thorn.<\/span><\/p>\n

This marks back-to-back promotions for the team, who were competing in the Fourth Division just two seasons ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thorn Athletic sit at the top of the league table with 64 points, followed by Kilsyth Athletic on 53 points, Greenock Juniors in third with 48 points, and Ardeer Thistle, also with 48 points, in fourth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thorn Athletic commented on their socials, the club said: “Another fantastic achievement for this group of players and management team.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Thanks to everyone for their support.”<\/span><\/p>\n

In a follow-up post, Thorn Athletic added: “Nathan McLelland slammed home four goals to help us secure promotion with a vital clean sheet for keeper Liam McWilliams at the other end. The boys have been magnificent and deserved the win.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Thank you to Wishaw for the hospitality and all the best to them for the rest of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Next week we host Irvine Victoria in our final home game of the season and it’s another big one so get yourself down to Thorn Athletic Sports Academy.”<\/span><\/p>\n
