The SPFL has today announced some key dates for next season, with the calendar for\u00a02025\/26 along similar lines to the current campaign.<\/p>\n
The William Hill Premiership, William Hill Championship, William Hill League 1 and\u00a0William Hill League 2 will all kick off on the weekend of August 1-3.<\/p>\n
The William Hill Premiership will conclude on the weekend of May 16\/17, while clubs in\u00a0the Championship, League 1 and League 2 will finish their regular seasons on the first\u00a0weekend in May, before the play-offs get under way.<\/p>\n
The second season of the expanded UEFA club competitions \u2013 the league phase of the\u00a0Champions League and Europa League again runs until the end of January \u2013 exerts\u00a0additional pressure on the domestic calendar. As was the case for 2024\/25, there will\u00a0be no scheduled William Hill Premiership winter break in season 2025\/26.<\/p>\n
The group stage of the Premier Sports Cup will start on the weekend of July 12\/13, with\u00a0the final scheduled for Sunday December 14. To enable the tournament to be\u00a0completed before Christmas, the quarter-finals will, as in the current season, be played\u00a0on a weekend due to the lack of a midweek slot.<\/p>\n
SPFL Chief Operating Officer Calum Beattie said: \u201cWe are only just into the second half\u00a0of the season across the four divisions and there is so much to look forward to in the\u00a0remaining months of season 2024\/25.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, we are well aware that clubs and supporters need to plan ahead. We are\u00a0therefore pleased to be able to confirm start and end dates for season 2025\/26, as well\u00a0as the full schedule for the Premier Sports Cup.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will again have five clubs competing in UEFA club competitions in season 2025\/26\u00a0and, of course, we are all hoping that next season ends with Scotland\u2019s participation at\u00a0the 2026 FIFA World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n
