Seven people have been charged in connection with an alleged ‘hate crime’ that took place at a football match at St Mirren Park in Paisley.<\/p>\n
The charges relate to threatening and abusive behaviour directed at a St Mirren fan with additional support needs during the St Mirren vs Aberdeen FC match on Saturday, 3 May 2025.<\/p>\n
Those charged include two male youths, both aged 16, and five men, one aged 19, two aged 22 and two aged 23.<\/p>\n
Both clubs condemned the incident at the time, and Aberdeen FC apologised to the St Mirren supporter who was targeted by a chant. A video of the incident also appeared on social media.<\/p>\n
A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.<\/p>\n
