The third round of the Scottish Communities Cup delivered a mix of convincing wins, tight contests and late drama, with clubs from across the West and beyond battling for a place in the next stage.<\/p>\n
Johnstone Burgh were among the biggest winners of the round, easing past Greenock Juniors with a 4\u20130 victory at Keanie Park. Goals from Blair Rossiter, Aaron Mason, Max Kerr and Ian McShane sealed a commanding performance from the Renfrewshire side.<\/p>\n
Renfrew also progressed after a 2\u20131 win away to Arthurlie. Kieran Healy and Aiden Malcolm struck either side of halftime before Michael MacNeil pulled one back late on for the hosts, but Renfrew held firm to secure the result.<\/p>\n
There was penalty shootout drama as Benburb edged past St Roch\u2019s after a 1\u20131 draw, winning 4\u20133 on spot kicks. Dundee Violet also needed penalties to see off Neilston, with the Tayside club progressing 4\u20132 after a 1\u20131 stalemate.<\/p>\n
Auchinleck Talbot showed their firepower with a 5\u20131 home win over Bathgate Thistle, while Kilbirnie Ladeside put seven past Letham in one of the round\u2019s most one-sided scorelines. Troon were similarly ruthless in a 6\u20131 win against Hall Russell.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Glenafton Athletic edged out Banks o\u2019 Dee 1\u20130 on the road, and Rutherglen Glencairn won 3\u20131 away to Rossvale. Pollok hit five past Dundee East Craigie, while Thorniewood United won a seven-goal contest against Glasgow University, finishing 5\u20133.<\/p>\n
Yoker Athletic, Blantyre Victoria, Glenafton Athletic, Lanark United, Largs Thistle and Tayport were among the other sides who progressed, making it a strong mix of Premier, First and lower-league representation heading into the next round.<\/p>\n
