Celtic Football Club has confirmed that manager Brendan Rodgers has resigned from his position with immediate effect.<\/p>\n
The club announced today that Rodgers tendered his resignation, which has been accepted, bringing an end to his second spell in charge at Parkhead.<\/p>\n
A statement from Celtic said: \u201cThe Club appreciates Brendan\u2019s contribution to Celtic during his two very successful periods at the Club. Brendan leaves Celtic with our thanks for the role he has played during a period of continued success for the Club and we wish him further success in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The process to appoint a new permanent manager is already underway, with the club set to update supporters as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, Celtic confirmed that former manager Martin O\u2019Neill and former player Shaun Maloney will take temporary charge of first-team duties while a long-term replacement is sought.<\/p>\n
