Renfrew strengthened their push for a place in the new Lowland League West with a 3-1 win over St Cadoc\u2019s at New Western Park.<\/p>\n

The home side made a strong start and took the lead in the 23rd minute. Aiden Malcolm finished well to put Renfrew ahead after a positive opening spell.<\/p>\n

Just seven minutes later it was 2-0. Connor Cameron reacted quickest to a loose ball and drove it home from the edge of the box to double the advantage.<\/p>\n

St Cadoc\u2019s responded before the break. They were awarded a penalty in the 35th minute and Ferguson converted to make it 2-1.<\/p>\n

Renfrew went in at half-time ahead, with the visitors still in the game.<\/p>\n

The second half was more scrappy, with fewer clear chances for either side. Renfrew made a change at the break, with Reece Mullen coming on, and managed the game well as St Cadoc\u2019s looked for an equaliser.<\/p>\n

The points were secured in the 75th minute. Scott Morton converted from the penalty spot after Chris Mahon won the foul, restoring the two-goal lead.<\/p>\n

From there, Renfrew saw the game out to claim all three points.<\/p>\n

It was not the prettiest performance, but it was a valuable win as they continue their push to finish high enough in the table to secure one of the promotion places, which will be awarded to licensed clubs.<\/p>\n
