Gleniffer Thistle Women recorded a 10-0 away win over West Park United Women in the ScottishPower Regional League Cup on Sunday, 16th August.<\/p>\n
Colleen Cossar scored five goals for the Paisley women’s side and was named player of the match after a strong team performance.<\/p>\n
Gleniffer opened the scoring after a spell of headed play involving Cossar and Sina Picken, with the ball eventually coming off Cossar and finding the net.<\/p>\n
Cossar added her second after a good ball from Cara McInally found the captain inside the box.<\/p>\n
She completed her hat-trick before half-time after finding the net following a scramble inside the 18-yard box, giving Gleniffer Women a 3-0 lead at the break.<\/p>\n
A change of shape at half-time saw Cara Lovat move into a holding midfield role as Gleniffer continued to control possession.<\/p>\n
Cossar added her fourth after running from midfield and rounding the goalkeeper.<\/p>\n
Sara Paterson then made it 5-0 with a solo run and finish before Kirsty Ross added the sixth.<\/p>\n
Cossar scored her fifth of the match to make it 7-0.<\/p>\n
Cara McInally then beat the offside line, rounded the goalkeeper and calmly finished for Gleniffer’s eighth.<\/p>\n
Lovat was denied by a save from a header but followed up to score the rebound.<\/p>\n
The scoring was completed when Cossar burst into the box before unselfishly squaring the ball to Marci MacKay, who tapped home to complete the 10-0 victory.<\/p>\n
Gleniffer also praised goalkeeper Leigh Skelton for making important interventions during the match. Paterson, Lovat, the defence and Picken were also highlighted for their performances.<\/p>\n
