Renfrew Ladies picked up their first point of the ScottishPower Women\u2019s Premier League 2 season after drawing 1-1 away to Hamilton Accies Women in their opening league match.<\/p>\n

Lauren McCulloch put Renfrew ahead at New Douglas Park on Sunday 23rd August, with the visitors taking their 1-0 advantage into half-time.<\/p>\n

Hamilton responded after the break and drew level through Ava Smith as the points were shared.<\/p>\n

McCulloch\u2019s goal was her first of the season, while Renfrew named defender Danni Gallagher as their Player of the Match following her performance at centre-back.<\/p>\n

Hamilton manager Robert Watson admitted afterwards that he was frustrated with his side\u2019s display and felt Renfrew deserved to take something from the match.<\/p>\n

Watson said: \u201cI’m extremely frustrated and annoyed with the standard of the performance, to be brutally honest.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I’ve said that to the players at full time. I don’t think we deserve to win the game, based on the energy that was put into the game by Renfrew, who deserved something out of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet’s not lie about it. But yeah, just not enough quality, constantly took momentum away from ourselves with poor fouls, poor decisions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd just far too many turnovers again, something that we worked on a lot through the week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his disappointment with Hamilton\u2019s performance, Watson felt his side had created opportunities to take all three points.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cEven then we made enough chances to win, I think we hit the post four times or five times.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at the end of the day we made chances that when you’re not playing well you’ve got to score.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we haven’t done that, and that’s why we’re standing in this position.\u201d<\/p>\n

Watson also highlighted Renfrew\u2019s work rate and felt Hamilton had failed to match it.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cHard work gets you far in this league, and I don’t think that we showed enough hard work to go and match and play for second phase, second ball.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd even when we did win the second ball, we then just made bad decisions and turned it over again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Renfrew\u2019s starting XI was Danni Gallagher, Sullivan, Dunlop, Heppenstall, Downs, Macleod, McCulloch, McConnachie, McKee, Hanvey and Currie.<\/p>\n

The result leaves Renfrew Ladies with one point after their opening SWPL 2 match.<\/p>\n
