Glenvale progressed to the next round of the Scottish Communities Cup with a 3-0 victory over Montrose Roselea at Ferguslie Sports Centre.<\/p>\n
Three goals inside the opening 22 minutes put the Paisley side firmly in control of their first-round tie on Saturday, 22nd August.<\/p>\n
Mark Munro gave Glenvale the perfect start after just five minutes, curling a shot into the top corner to make it 1-0.<\/p>\n
Montrose Roselea had an opportunity to respond in the 17th minute when Owen Emslie delivered a cross for Elan Duff, but his header went just over.<\/p>\n
Glenvale doubled their advantage a minute later.<\/p>\n
Ewan Grant broke through the Montrose Roselea defence before sending a low shot into the corner to make it 2-0.<\/p>\n
Grant struck again just four minutes later when he capitalised on an error to score Glenvale’s third in the 22nd minute.<\/p>\n
Montrose Roselea attempted to respond before the break, with Riley Calder shooting straight at the goalkeeper. Evan Stewart also had an effort blocked before Lewis Hill curled a shot just over.<\/p>\n
Glenvale went into half-time with a 3-0 advantage.<\/p>\n
Montrose Roselea made four changes at the break as they looked for a way back into the cup tie.<\/p>\n
The visitors created opportunities during the second half, but Glenvale remained a threat at the other end and Montrose Roselea goalkeeper Josh Gray was called upon to make several saves.<\/p>\n
Glenvale were reduced to ten men later in the match when L. Comaskey was dismissed after receiving a second booking.<\/p>\n
Montrose Roselea continued to search for a goal but could not find a way through, with Glenvale seeing out the remainder of the match to secure a 3-0 victory and a place in the next round of the Scottish Communities Cup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
