Largs Thistle 3-0 Auchinleck

The first dangerous attack of the match came for the home side in the 11th minute. Will Sewell found Blair Devine with a crisp pass before the Largs number 20 raced into the box and put a dangerous ball across the face of goal, but there were no takers and the Talbot defence managed to scramble the ball clear.

It had been a slow start to the match for Talbot, but they finally created their first chance in the 23rd minute. Ewan Thomson ran down the right wing then fired a dangerous right-footed cross to the back post which found Aiden Clocherty, but from 6 yards his right-footed shot went wide of the left-hand post.

Just a minute later the game burst into life. After a mix-up in the centre of the Talbot defence, the ball broke to Adam Aird, who ran towards goal but was brought down just inside the box by Ross Clark. Referee Connor Ashwood pointed to the spot for a penalty to the home side and showed a yellow card to Clark. Up stepped Largs Thistle's number 9 Will Sewell, who made no mistake as his low right-footed shot found the bottom left-hand corner of the net to give "The Theesel" the lead in the 25th minute.

The home side's tails were up, and they created their next chance of the game in the 27th minute. Jamie Martin's dangerous cross from the right-hand side found Blair Devine at the back post, but his first-time left-footed volley from 10 yards was well saved by Ollie Ecrepont.

Largs Thistle were pushing for the all-important second goal, and they came close to doing that in the 29th minute. Jamie Martin's first-time right-footed volley from the edge of the box was deflected just wide of the left-hand post for a corner kick.

Auchinleck Talbot were struggling to put much pressure on the home defence, but they had a chance to level the match from a direct free-kick from 20 yards in the 37th minute. Austin Sime teed up Luke Gillies but his powerful left-footed shot was well blocked by the Largs Thistle wall.

The home side were next to threaten in the 40th minute of the match. Laurie McMaster produced a brilliant long-range pass to find Blair Devine on the left-hand side of the box, but his first-time left-footed shot from 12 yards was well kept out by Ollie Ecrepont.

As half-time approached, Auchinleck Talbot were awarded a penalty kick. Austin Sime's right-footed cross from the left-hand side was heading for Ewan Thomson, but he was pushed to the ground by Laurie McMaster, and the referee pointed to the spot and showed a yellow card to Largs Thistle captain McMaster. Up stepped Luke Main from 12 yards in the first minute of stoppage time, but to his dismay, his right-footed shot went well over the crossbar to ensure Largs Thistle would lead 1-0 at the half-time interval.

The away side created the first chance of the second half in the 51st minute as Austin Sime had a sight of goal, but his low left-footed shot from 16 yards was saved by George O'Connor.

Auchinleck Talbot had another chance to level the match in the 55th minute when Luke Gillies' cross from the left wing found Luke Main, but his header from 8 yards went over the crossbar.

"The Theesel" were next to threaten in the 58th minute as Blair Devine's corner kick from the right found Will Sewell, but his header at the back post from 6 yards went wide of the left-hand post.

"The Bot" were starting to get frustrated with how the game was going, which appeared to lead to both Luke Main and Cameron Crooks getting booked for two very poor tackles in the 61st and 65th minutes respectively.

It was Talbot who would have the next chance to score in the 72nd minute when Ewan Thomson found himself in some space, but his right-footed shot from 16 yards was saved by George O'Connor.

With the game getting stretched, Largs Thistle scored their second goal of the match in the 74th minute. A brilliant long-range pass from midway inside the Largs half by Adam Aird found Will Sewell, who then nicked the ball past the on-rushing Ollie Ecrepont at the edge of the box, before rolling the ball into an empty net with his right foot from 12 yards.

With the away side rattled, Largs Thistle went on to score their third goal of the match in the 77th minute. George O'Connor launched the ball deep into the Talbot half which found Blair Devine, who then out-jumped Neill McPherson to head the ball on to Will Sewell, who then out-muscled Anthony Maguire to slot a low right-footed shot from 8 yards into the bottom right-hand corner of the net to complete a brilliant hat-trick.

Auchinleck Talbot had the chance to pull a goal back in the 85th minute when Luke Gillies' free-kick from the left found Keiren Wood, but his header from 6 yards was blocked.

The home side were on the lookout for goal number four, and had the next chance in the 89th minute. The impressive Blair Devine created himself an opening but his left-footed shot from 8 yards was blocked.

The last chance of the game came in added time for Talbot. Luke Gillies found himself in plenty of space outside the box, but his powerful left-footed shot went high and wide to complete a miserable afternoon for "The Bot".

Following today's result, Largs Thistle top the table on 12 points with 4 matches played. Auchinleck Talbot drop to fourth place in the table and remain on 9 points with 4 matches played.
