Renfrew booked their place in the second round of the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup with a 3-2 win over Broxburn Athletic at New Western Park.
The victory has earned Renfrew a home tie against Scottish League Two side Stirling Albion in the second round, which will be played on the weekend of 24th October 2026.
It will be another significant fixture for Renfrew in their first season competing in the Scottish Cup.
Broxburn took an early lead on Saturday before Renfrew responded through an Alan Cook penalty. Second-half goals from Sean Fyfe and Kenzie McCrystal put the home side 3-1 ahead before Calum Biggar pulled one back for the visitors.
Broxburn opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Jack Docherty played the ball forward from around the centre circle to Christopher O’Kane, who slid a pass into the path of Errol Douglas. Douglas ran onto the ball and slipped it beyond Renfrew goalkeeper Jack Donohoe into the middle of the net.
Renfrew looked for a response and had an opportunity in the 10th minute when Jordan Moore sent a shot past the post.
Broxburn threatened again before Renfrew were awarded a free-kick in the 14th minute following a foul. The ball was sent into the penalty area and headed clear before Broxburn’s Gallagher Lennon tried an ambitious effort from close to the halfway line, near the left touchline, which went wide.
Aedan Gilfedder was booked in the 20th minute.
Renfrew continued to look for an equaliser. A corner in the 23rd minute was headed over by David McCallum, while Moore had another effort in the 25th minute which was cleared.
Broxburn also continued to threaten, with another effort going wide in the 40th minute.
Renfrew were given the opportunity to draw level in the 43rd minute when Christopher Mahon was involved in a challenge with Gallagher Lennon inside the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty.
Cook stepped up and converted from the spot to make it 1-1.
The sides went into the interval level, but Renfrew made a quick start to the second half.
Broxburn goalkeeper Bob Watt was called into action shortly after the restart before Renfrew went ahead in the 50th minute.
Sean Fyfe got the decisive touch, sending the ball beyond Watt. Gilfedder moved towards the ball as it headed for goal but did not touch it before it crossed the line, with the goal awarded to Fyfe.
Renfrew continued to create opportunities as they looked for a third, while Watt was called upon to make further saves.

Mahon was booked in the 55th minute before being replaced by Kenzie McCrystal in the 68th minute.
Renfrew extended their lead in the 74th minute when substitute McCrystal scored to make it 3-1.
Broxburn responded three minutes later. Kane Thomson crossed the ball into the middle of the penalty area, where it fell to Calum Biggar. The substitute struck it first time and his effort went in off the bottom of the left-hand post to make it 3-2.
Renfrew had opportunities to restore their two-goal advantage late on, with Moore among those denied by the Broxburn goalkeeper.
Broxburn were unable to find an equaliser and Renfrew held on to secure their place in the second round.
Sunday’s draw paired Renfrew with Stirling Albion, with the League Two side set to visit New Western Park.
