St Mirren Women and Girls Academy recorded two wins, a draw and a cup victory across four matches at the weekend, with the senior women’s side booking their place in the last 16 of the League Cup.

The Academy sides scored 15 goals across the four fixtures, with the U14s and U16s both winning, the U18s drawing a ten-goal match and St Mirren Women securing a late cup victory away to Dunipace.

St Mirren U14s came through a seven-goal match to beat Central 4-3.

The young Saints created enough chances to have been two goals ahead inside the opening ten minutes but instead fell behind after conceding an avoidable goal.

They responded well and turned the match around to lead 2-1 at half-time.

St Mirren extended their advantage to 4-2 after the break before Central pulled another goal back to set up a tense finish.

The U14s held on for the victory, with Amber scoring twice and Macie and Kara also on target.

St Mirren U16 YPL also had to come from behind as they defeated Morton 4-2.

With several players unavailable through injury and suspension, St Mirren adopted a 4-4-2 formation.

Despite creating chances, they went into the interval trailing 1-0.

The response came during the second half, with St Mirren scoring three quick goals to turn the match around.

Morton reduced the deficit from a corner with ten minutes remaining, but St Mirren added their fourth goal in the final minute.

Freya McMahon, Karmyn, Ava MacFarlane and Mia McCamon were the St Mirren goalscorers.

There was another comeback in the U18s match as St Mirren recovered from three goals down to draw 5-5 away to Dunfermline Athletic U18s.

The visitors were 3-0 behind inside the opening 20 minutes before Freya McFarlane pulled one back before half-time.

St Mirren increased the tempo after the break and completed the turnaround to move 4-3 ahead.

Dunfermline equalised before St Mirren went in front again at 5-4, only for the home side to find another equaliser.

McFarlane scored four of St Mirren’s five goals, with Casey Canning also on target.

The sides are due to meet again next week.

The senior St Mirren Women’s side completed the weekend by beating Dunipace 2-1 in the League Cup Preliminary Round to reach the last 16.

Praise Adebo opened the scoring from the penalty spot following a handball, but Dunipace responded quickly and equalised from a corner.

St Mirren were then reduced to ten players for the final 30 minutes following a second yellow card.

The visitors changed to a 3-4-2 formation and continued to look for a winning goal despite being a player down.

It arrived in the 92nd minute when Casey Canning scored to secure a 2-1 victory and St Mirren’s place in the last 16.

The four results completed a successful weekend across St Mirren Women and Girls Academy, with the teams scoring 15 goals between them.
