Paisley Pirates took two points from a contrasting weekend on the road, recovering from a heavy defeat against Edinburgh Capitals to beat Solway Sharks SNL in Dumfries.

The Pirates suffered an 8-0 defeat at Murrayfield on Saturday before responding with a 4-3 victory at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Edinburgh brought Paisley’s unbeaten start to the Scottish National League season to an end, with the Capitals proving too strong on the night.

The Capitals line-up included Marcus Murdoch and Marty Simpson, who served as Pirates’ alternate captains last season. It was the pair’s first appearance against their former club since moving to Edinburgh.

Mylo Wylie was named Paisley’s Man of the Match as the Pirates turned their attention to the second game of the weekend.

The trip to Dumfries Ice Bowl was the fifth game in Paisley’s run of consecutive away fixtures.

Another closely contested meeting with Solway followed, but this time the Pirates came out on top with a 4-3 victory.

Ryan Campbell scored twice, with Ryan Parkin and Cale Tanaka also finding the net. Campbell was named Paisley’s Man of the Match.

The weekend leaves the Pirates third in the latest published league standings, with four wins from five matches and eight points.

They are level on points with second-placed Dundee, who have played four games, and two points behind leaders Whitley, who have played six.

Paisley thanked the supporters who travelled to back the team across both fixtures.

The Pirates continue their run of away games on Saturday 10th October when they travel to Aberdeen’s Linx Ice Arena. Face-off is at 7.15pm.
