Thorn Athletic have appointed Charlie Owens as their new community football co-ordinator.
He takes over from Kayden Weir and will deliver community coaching sessions, develop partnerships with local schools and organise holiday camps for young people.
The club said many people may already have met Charlie at its October holiday camp, in local schools or at its sessions.
Charlie said: “My name is Charlie and I’m delighted to have joined Thorn Athletic as the club’s new Community Football Co-ordinator!
“I have a background in football coaching and player development, having previously worked with a Pro Football Academy, OneRen, and completed an internship with both St Mirren and Kilmarnock Football Club’s academies.
“I am also currently the Head Coach of the Men’s 1’s football team at University of the West of Scotland, where I am undergoing my fourth year of studying Coaching and Developing Sports.
“In my new role I’ll be focusing on delivering community coaching sessions, developing partnerships with local schools, and organising fun and engaging holiday camps for young people in the area.
“I’m really looking forward to helping grow the club’s community involvement, creating positive experiences for young players, and providing more opportunities for children and young people to enjoy football, develop their skills, and build their confidence.
“I’m excited to get started and look forward to meeting and growing the Thorn Athletic community over the coming months!”
