Renfrew made it back-to-back Lowland League West victories with a 3-0 win over Beith Juniors at New Western Park on Wednesday night.
Goals from Sean Fyfe, Kieran Healy and Argyll McCoist secured the three points, following Renfrew’s 3-1 victory away to Pollok in their previous league match.
Renfrew started brightly, with Jordan Moore getting into the box inside the opening minute before seeing his effort saved.
The home side took the lead in the 20th minute through Fyfe. He found the net with a strike from around 25 yards to put Renfrew 1-0 ahead.
Beith came close to an equaliser when Renfrew goalkeeper Jack came out and punched the ball clear. It fell to a Beith player, whose immediate effort was kept out by a goal-line header from David McCallum.
Renfrew doubled their advantage in the 35th minute when Healy scored with a header to make it 2-0.
Alan Cook was shown a yellow card before the interval, with Renfrew taking their two-goal advantage into half-time.
Renfrew continued to create chances after the restart. AJ went close with an effort from around 25 yards which narrowly missed the goalkeeper’s left-hand post.
Argyll McCoist, Darren Christie and Louie Murphy were introduced in the second half, replacing Dean Black, Chris Mahon and Aedan Gilfedder.
McCoist completed the scoring in the 85th minute with a finish into the corner. It was his first goal for Renfrew.
Christie also went close on his debut. His long-range effort was turned around the post before another opportunity came when a clearance from the Beith goalkeeper fell to him on the edge of the box, but his shot went wide.
Joey O’Toole later replaced Jordan Moore as Renfrew saw out the 3-0 victory.
The attendance at New Western Park was 209.
The result moved Renfrew onto seven points from nine league matches. They remain 14th in the table but have now won their last two league games.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, Largs Thistle beat Johnstone Burgh 1-0 through a 90th-minute goal from J. Gilmour, while Cumnock Juniors recorded a 4-0 home victory over Troon.
Renfrew’s next Lowland League West match is away to Johnstone Burgh on Saturday, 26th September, with kick-off at 3pm.
