Bishopton and St Mirren have both booked their places in the quarter-finals of the ScottishPower National League Cup after wins on Sunday.
Barclays Scottish Women’s League One leaders Bishopton continued their strong start to the season with a 5-1 victory over Giffnock Soccer Centre.
Frankie Fern scored a hat-trick for Bishopton, with Henry and Stewart also on the scoresheet.
Fern was named the referee’s player of the match.
Giffnock’s goal came from Olivia Jones-Burns, but Bishopton went on to secure a comfortable victory and a place in the last eight.
The result continues Bishopton’s strong start to the season. They currently lead Barclays Scottish Women’s League One with five wins from five matches.
They have scored 32 league goals and conceded just three, giving them 15 points. Queen of the South also have 15 points but have played seven matches compared with Bishopton’s five.
St Mirren also reached the quarter-finals after an impressive 3-1 away victory over Championship side Forfar Farmington at Station Park.
Sandra Craig headed St Mirren in front before turning provider for Casey Canning to double their advantage.
Forfar pulled one back through Alexandra Fox before half-time.
Canning restored St Mirren’s two-goal lead in the second half, scoring from a Praise Adebo assist to complete her double and make it 3-1.
The Buddies sit fifth in League One after five matches, with three wins and two defeats. They have scored 18 goals and conceded nine.
Bishopton and St Mirren are the two Renfrewshire sides through to the quarter-finals and will now await the draw for the next round.
