Pollok secured a 2-0 victory away to Dalbeattie Star in the Scottish Lowland League West on Saturday 1st August 2026.

Lee Gallagher gave Pollok the perfect start from the penalty spot before Liam McGonigle added a second late in the match.

Pollok were awarded their penalty inside the opening minute after McGonigle's effort was handled.

Gallagher stepped up and converted from the spot in the second minute to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.

Dalbeattie responded and came close to an equaliser three minutes later when a free-kick struck the woodwork.

The home side continued to apply pressure during the opening stages, while Pollok began to see more of the ball as the half progressed.

Gallagher had a corner cleared at the front post in the 17th minute before Dalbeattie had a player booked for a challenge on McGonigle five minutes later.

Pollok threatened again after 29 minutes when Gallagher broke through and delivered a cross. The ball eventually fell to Walsh on the edge of the box, but his effort was blocked.

McGonigle went close to doubling the advantage in the 37th minute when his long-range effort was touched on to the post.

Dalbeattie won a corner two minutes later but could not make anything of it, leaving Pollok 1-0 ahead at half-time.

Pollok were forced into a change at the break, with Leyden going off through injury and Boyle coming on.

The visitors began to keep possession better after the restart. McCann broke through in the 54th minute but was unable to find McGonigle with his attempted square ball.

McCann was replaced by McHugh two minutes later.

Dalbeattie continued searching for an equaliser and tested the Pollok goalkeeper in the 67th minute, but the effort was held.

McGonigle was involved in another incident five minutes later when he was on the receiving end of a challenge. Gallagher sent the resulting free-kick into the area and Doran headed over.

Pollok made a double change in the 76th minute, with Watt and Cameron replaced by O'Rourke and Millerick.

Dalbeattie pushed for a way back into the game during the closing stages. The Pollok goalkeeper was called upon to make a save in the 77th minute before the home side sent another chance wide four minutes later.

Pollok then had chances to put the game beyond Dalbeattie. Millerick found the net in the 88th minute but was flagged offside.

The second goal arrived moments later.

McGonigle broke through and finished in the 88th minute to make it 2-0 and secure all three points for Pollok.
