The visitors created chances and were competitive for long spells, but the home side were ruthless in the final third.
Renfrew had an early opportunity when a Hurlford striker went through one-on-one, but goalkeeper Danny McLeay made an important save to keep the scores level. At the other end, Renfrew threatened, with Aiden Malcolm seeing two efforts in quick succession drift the wrong side of the post.
The breakthrough came in the 40th minute. Renfrew failed to clear a corner and Paul McKenzie reacted quickest to score and give Hurlford a 1–0 lead at the break.
Renfrew pushed for an equaliser after half-time and continued to create openings, but they could not find the finish their play deserved. A point-blank save from the Hurlford goalkeeper denied them as they chased a way back into the match.
Hurlford doubled their advantage in the 76th minute when Lewis Morrison found the net. As Renfrew committed bodies forward in search of a response, the hosts struck again five minutes later. A breakaway move was finished by Kris Kerr in the 81st minute to seal the points.
Hurlford’s discipline saw four yellow cards shown to Ben Hughes (35’), Calum Watt (57’), Kris Kerr (70’) and Scott Robertson (73’).
Despite spells of pressure and positive attacking play, Renfrew were left to reflect on missed chances as Hurlford’s efficiency in front of goal proved decisive.
