Kilwinning made the stronger start and took the lead after 15 minutes. A long throw into the box from Jack Maccalman caused problems in the Talbot defence, allowing Ryan Wilson to finish into the top left corner.
The visitors’ advantage was dented on 31 minutes when they were reduced to 10 men. Kyle Chrystal was shown a straight red card.
Talbot took advantage of the extra man and levelled the match in the 36th minute through Kenzie Mitchell.
Despite being a man down, Kilwinning stayed in the game and kept Talbot from building sustained pressure.
The hosts were then reduced to 10 men themselves in the 72nd minute when Tarek Abed was sent off for a high boot.
Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages, with both teams settling for a point.
After the game, Auchinleck Talbot’s Alan McLuckie said: “The players were given instructions before the game. They were fully informed about their long throws and set plays, and they never done what they were supposed to do. We didn’t play well enough and couldn’t cut them open.”
The result sees both sides take a point from a game that saw early goals and two dismissals shape the outcome.
