Newmains United picked up their first West of Scotland Football League Third Division win of the season with a 2-1 victory away to Carluke Rovers on Tuesday night.
Jamie Henderson scored twice for the visitors at the John Cumming Stadium before Mikey Downs pulled one back for Carluke late in the second half.
Henderson opened the scoring after nine minutes to put Newmains ahead, and the visitors took their 1-0 advantage into half-time.
Scoreboard Spotlight pundit Daris Nesbitt was at the match and was impressed by the visitors, particularly their defensive display.
He said: "Newmains were solid. Newmains were great at the back, looked dangerous going forward as well."
Carluke created a number of opportunities but struggled to make them count, with several efforts going straight at the Newmains goalkeeper.
Henderson then scored his second of the night from the penalty spot to put Newmains 2-0 ahead.
Nesbitt described the incident as a "clumsy penalty giveaway" from Carluke, but also felt the home side should have been awarded a spot-kick of their own.
He said: "Clumsy penalty giveaway as well from Carluke for the second goal for Newmains. Carluke actually should have had a penalty as well, don't know how the referee's not gave it."
Downs gave Carluke hope when he pulled one back in the 81st minute to make it 2-1.
Despite the late pressure, Newmains remained solid and managed the closing stages to secure all three points.
Nesbitt said: "When you go 2-0 up, you're like, right, Carluke have got the goal, 15 to go, could push on and get the equaliser.
"Nah, Newmains just solid, resolute, and it's a great win for them because they were bottom of the league coming into tonight."
Carluke had gone into the match unbeaten after two wins and two draws from their opening four league games.
Nesbitt added: "You thought Carluke, four games in, two wins, two draws, at home, should hopefully be getting points on the board, but nah, Newmains win."
The result leaves Carluke on eight points from five matches, while Newmains move onto four points from five.
Despite the visitors taking all three points, Nesbitt felt the overall contest was close.
He said: "I'd probably say a draw is maybe a fair result. I thought Newmains looked alright."
