Johnstone Burgh moved up to 4th place in the WoSFL Premier Division after a comfortable 2–0 win over Shotts Bon Accord at a sunny, cold and breezy Keanie Park in Johnstone.

Interim manager Graeme Ramage made five changes from the starting XI that lost 3–2 to Renfrew at Keanie Park on Wednesday night. Out went Matty Grant, Ross MacKinnon, Darren Christie, Aiden Gilmartin and Nicholas Gallagher, with Stuart Faulds, Kian Gilday, Craig Menzies, Blair Rossiter and Kyle Lafferty coming in.

Shotts came close in the 13th minute when a dangerous in-swinging corner from the right was headed onto the underside of the crossbar by Burgh defender Scott Forrester.

They threatened again in the 20th minute. A neat pass from Darren Bowie found Ben Richford, but his left-foot shot from 12 yards was well saved by Luke Scullion, who tipped the ball round the post. From the resulting corner, Taylor Evans had a chance from six yards, but Scullion made another strong save.

Shotts continued to press and nearly broke the deadlock in the 28th minute as Bowie again picked out Richford, but his effort from 14 yards went just wide.

Dylan McGuigan then tried his luck from 20 yards in the 35th minute, but Scullion was equal to it.

It was a frustrating first half for the Burgh, who struggled to create clear chances until the 39th minute. Rossiter drove down the left and delivered into the box, where the ball fell to Ian McShane, but he fired over from around 10 yards.

The first half ended goalless.

The Burgh started the second half well and took the lead in the 52nd minute. Malky McDonald squared the ball to an unmarked McShane, who fired low into the net from eight yards.

Shotts had two chances to respond in the 54th minute. Richford saw his shot blocked from 14 yards before Evans followed up, but his effort from close range was also blocked.

Broque Watson then went close in the 57th minute, but his shot from 10 yards drifted wide.

The home side doubled their lead in the 70th minute. Lafferty won a penalty after being brought down by Sandy Thomson following a defensive mix-up. The striker saw his spot-kick saved, but reacted quickest to fire the rebound high into the net.

Shotts pushed to get back into the game and had two quick chances in the 72nd minute. Evans was denied by Scullion from 10 yards before Richford fired over from 16 yards.

Burgh almost added a third in the 88th minute when Rossiter picked out Gilmartin with a long pass, but his first-time strike from 18 yards was brilliantly saved by Thomson.

The hosts saw out the closing stages to secure a 2–0 victory.

Following the result, Johnstone Burgh move up to 4th place on 43 points from 24 matches.

Next up for the Burgh is Troon in the WoSFL Premier Division at Keanie Park on Wednesday 22nd April, with a 7:30pm kick-off.
