Thorn Athletic have strengthened their squad with two new signings while also securing the future of one of their key players.

The Johnstone club have confirmed the arrivals of Ryan Connelly and Mickey Wilson from Kilbirnie Ladeside, while striker Nathan McLelland has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Connelly joins Thorn after featuring in the club’s opening two matches of the new campaign.

Announcing the move, Thorn said: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Ryan Connelly from Kilbirnie Ladeside.

“The exciting winger has already featured in the past two games and we’re looking forward to seeing more of him.

“Welcome to the Thorn, Ryan.”

Wilson also arrives from Kilbirnie Ladeside, returning to a club where he previously played during Thorn’s amateur days.

The club said: “We are delighted to complete the transfer of Mickey Wilson from Kilbirnie Ladeside.

“The former Hurlford left-sided defender is no stranger to the club having enjoyed a previous spell with the club in our amateur days.

“Thank you to Kilbirnie for their cooperation in concluding the deal and a warm welcome back Mickey.”

Thorn have also moved to retain striker McClelland, who has committed his future to the club until the end of the 2027/28 season.

The club said: “We are delighted to announce that Nathan McLelland has agreed a contract extension until the end of season 2027-2028.

“The striker has been an integral part of our success as he’s progressed and developed through our pathway over many years.

“He has had a fantastic start to the season and we are pleased that his ambitions are aligned with the club so this is fantastic news.”
