Renfrewshire’s senior women’s football sides had a weekend of league and cup action, with St Mirren Women and Gleniffer Thistle Women both progressing in their respective cup competitions.

Renfrew Women were in SWPL 2 action at Holm Park on Sunday, 30th August, where they were beaten 7-0 by Queen’s Park.

Queen’s Park’s victory was one of five matches played in SWPL 2 on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Boroughmuir Thistle beat Kilmarnock 3-0, Hamilton won 4-3 away to Gartcairn, Falkirk Women defeated Livingston 2-0 and Dundee United won 4-3 away to St Johnstone.

St Mirren Women were away from league action as they travelled to Westfield Park to face Dunipace FC Ladies in the ScottishPower National League Cup.

The Paisley side secured their place in the last 16 with a 2-1 victory.

Gleniffer Thistle Women were also celebrating cup progress following their Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup Preliminary Round Two tie.

Gleniffer defeated Alloa Athletic 1-0 to book their place in the first round of the competition.

They have been drawn away to Airdrie CC Ladies in the next round.

It was a different outcome for Houston United Women, whose Scottish Cup campaign ended with an 11-3 defeat at home to Central Ladies.

Bishopton Ladies had no fixture over the weekend.
