Thorn Athletic were beaten 2-0 by Threave Rovers in the First Division at Meadow Park on Saturday, 26th September.
Threave opened the scoring after 22 minutes. Charlie Cowie started the move with a throw to Alex Henderson, who found Harry Officer. He then played in Lewis Downie, who finished at the near post to put the home side 1-0 ahead.
That remained the score at half-time, with Thorn saying the goal had come from a counter-attack.
There were also a number of cautions during the match. Thorn reported that 10 bookings were handed out by the referee over the course of the game.
Threave doubled their advantage in the 55th minute. Liam Nish sent a low cross across the six-yard box and, after Thorn goalkeeper Allan parried the ball, substitute Ross Irving was on hand to score.
It was Irving’s first goal since returning to Threave Rovers.
Threave goalkeeper Cowie kept a clean sheet as the home side completed a 2-0 victory.
Thorn will now prepare to host Lanark in their next match.
